In December 2000, with Scott Banister, Scott Weiss co-founded IronPort, an email appliance provider. IronPort became known for its approach of serving both senders and receivers of email, which it justified because it gave greater insight into spam and how to avoid it — and let users create a directory of certified emailers adhering to certain standards. IronPort was acquired in 2007 by Cisco for US$830 million.
Previously, Weiss worked at Microsoft, and was an early employee at Hotmail.
